The Complexity of Time
Calculating age isn't just `Current Year - Birth Year`. It involves navigating the Gregorian calendar's irregularities, such as months with 28, 29, 30, or 31 days, and leap years occurring every 4 years (with exceptions).
Leap Years Explained
A year is actually 365.2425 days long. To keep our calendar aligned with the Earth's orbit, we add a leap day (Feb 29) every 4 years. However, years divisible by 100 are not leap years, unless they are also divisible by 400. Our calculator handles this logic flawlessly.
Cultural Age Counting
In most Western cultures, age increases on your birthday. However, in East Asian age reckoning (traditional), you are 1 year old at birth and gain a year on Lunar New Year. This tool uses the international standard (ISO 8601 logic).
Fun Facts
Did you know? If you are 30 years old, you have lived for approximately 1 billion seconds. You also share your birthday with about 20 million other people around the world.
Data Privacy
Birth dates are sensitive personal identifiable information (PII). Unlike other sites, we process your input locally in JavaScript, ensuring your exact birth data is never logged or tracked.
